Summary:

Today I’m going to bust a myth that has held back a lot of people from achieving the career and life success that they want and deserve. This myth is pervasive. And it is really harmful to your success. It is the widely held belief that good performance alone will guarantee success in your life and career.

While you have be an outstanding performer to succeed, good performance alone will not guarantee your success. Good performance in high school got you into the college of your choice. Good performance in college got you your first job. But by the time to get into the workplace everybody is a good, if not great, performer. Outstanding performance is a given, just the price of admission to the success sweepstakes.

You’re probably wondering “if good performance isn’t enough, what do I need to do to succeed in my life and career? To answer this question, I’ve turned to Bud Bilanich, our Official Guide to Career Development. Bud recommends becoming proficient in four areas that he calls the Four C’s of Success.

These Four C’s are Clarity, Commitment, Confidence and Competence. Let me tell you a little about each of them.

Clarity of purpose and direction is the first key to creating a successful life and career. There are three keys to developing your clarity of purpose and direction. You have to…

Define what success means to you personally. This is important. You get to choose. So choose wisely. Figure out exactly what you want out of your life and career.

Create a vivid mental picture of yourself as a success. This image will guide you along your journey.

Clarify your personal values. Your values are your foundation. They provide you with guidance in ambiguous situations. If you have a well develop sense of your personal values, you won’t find yourself struggling with what to do in most situations.

There are three keys to committing to your success. You have to…

Take personal responsibility for your success. Only you can make you a success. Once you make the decision to take personal responsibility you’ll be well on your way.

Set high goals – and do whatever it takes to achieve them.

Choose to respond positively to people and events. As you go through life stuff will happen. Choose to respond positively. Treat every setback and failure as an opportunity to learn and grow and move you one step closer to the successful life and career you want and deserve.

There are three keys to becoming self confident. You have to …

Choose optimism. Believe in your heart of hearts that today will be better than yesterday and that tomorrow will be better than today. Self confident people choose optimism.

Face your fears and act. Don’t let your fears paralyze you into inaction. Fear is the great demotivator. It stops you from achieving all that you can.

Surround yourself with positive people. If you can’t move away from negative people, do what you can to hold them at arm’s length.

Finally, there are four key success competencies you must develop.

You have to create positive personal impact by developing and constantly promote your unique personal brand, by being impeccable in your presentation of self – in person and on line, and by knowing and practice the basic rules of etiquette.

You have to become an outstanding performer by getting technically competent and remaining so throughout your career. You also have to get organized and manage your time and life well.

You have to get healthy. Manage your stress and lifestyle. Eat healthy, exercise.

The final competency is building relationships. To do this successfully, you have be self aware. Understand yourself and your impact on others. Pay it forward to others; give with no expectation of return.

These four C’s – clarity, commitment, confidence and competence will help you create the successful life and career you want and deserve. Learn them. Use them. And you’ll succeed.

The Road to Empowerment in Five Minutes or Less

Each of us has within us the power to take control of our lives and create a happy and fulfilling life. Here are some steps to accomplish this goal.

Empowerment means living an authentic life – your life – a life that energizes you.

Mahatma Gandhi summed up this idea when he said “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

But many people today don’t feel as if they’re living an empowered life. Instead, they live their lives based on how they think other people want them to live, and allow others to define their life experience. This leads to unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life.

So how can we boost our sense of empowerment, and put ourselves on the path to a joyful, purposeful life? David will take you through a 3-step method some people have used to boost their sense of empowerment, recommended by his friend Valery Satterwhite.

Step 1 – Become the Examiner of Your Life

Examine your life experiences. If you had a bad experience ask yourself “What within me created this experience?”

When you discover the limiting belief you had that resulted in a bad experience you will see that it is an area where you have given up your personal power. You were afraid in some way. These negative thoughts create triggers, stuck places, and old, repeated, unwanted patterns. You Find Excuses And Reasons to not move forward. The acronym for Finding excuses and reasons is FEAR.

When you have a good experience do the same thing. Examine it. Ask yourself “What within me created this good experience? You’ll discover the positive thoughts and actions you took that created the good experience. Now you have the recipe to create similar good experiences over and over again.

Step 2 – Act on your Intuition

The late Irish poet John O’Donohue reminded us “The blessings for which we hunger are not to be found in other places or people. These gifts can only be given to you by yourself. They are at home in the hearth of your soul.”

The voice of your personal power is your intuition and inspiration. This voice will always speak your truth. It is a calm, certain voice or feeling that you get that is packed with information, thoughts and ideas that will move you closer to what you want. You know this voice. It was that gut feeling you should have listened to but probably didn’t.

Step 3 – Rewrite Negative Limiting Beliefs as Empowering Ones

Once you’ve examined your past and begun listening to your intuition, the next step is to face your negative and limiting beliefs head-on and overcome them. That’s the final step to reaching real empowerment.

Here’s how to do that. Take each misguided rule and pattern you see yourself following, and rewrite it as a positive, empowering thought.

You were born with the power to experience and enjoy the life you desire. You have the power to fully express who you are, what your truth is, what your passions are, to create the life you dream of.

6 Basic Rules For Network/Internet Marketing Success !

If you have been marketing on the Internet for any significant amount of time you know how important it is to generate traffic to your website, lead capture page, splash page,blog or company replicated website, just to name a few.

Of course, we can’t dismiss the importance of generating leads for network marketers or converting those prospects or potential customers once they arrive at our chosen landing page.

However, the #1 challenge that most marketers still face everyday is getting targeted traffic to their site. So, we will be discussing the basics of Internet marketing and different traffic techniques that are designed to drive targeted traffic to our sites.

The first rule of Internet Marketing is that you are never done. It will take significant effort to start getting a flow of traffic to your site. You do not need to “work” the internet as hard once you begin to get a steady flow of traffic but eventually,if you stop working it even organic web traffic will dry up.

The reason for this is that the search engines change how they operate, what they look for. The web spiders are always crawling the net looking for new and updated information. It is critical that your site react to these changes.

So, how do we become successful at Internet Marketing? Here are some basic rules to follow:

1) CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT

UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYTHING STARTS WITH CONTENT. The best internet marketing tool is your content. If you provide original, high quality content people will naturally talk about you, see you as a resource and visit your site. Even refer the site to their friends. Other sites will want to link to you, without you paying for the link. As a result, you will be listed high in the search engines.

Your content is your best weapon on the Web. This is especially true if you do not have endless resources to brand yourself and engage in large scale advertising.

2) Target Market (Fish where the fish are)

Know who your target market is, figure out where they are and then what will motivate them to take action (WHAT IS IN IT FOR THEM). Although it is all a numbers game, you can increase your chances by reaching out to a targeted prospect or customer who will have an interest in your opportunity. Far too many internet marketers spend hours working the business to people who are unlikely to ever be interested. Don’t waste your time and energy !

3) Be Persistent

Internet Marketing is NOT a one-shot deal…it is a process. It is something that you will do on an ongoing basis using a variety of techniques. Competition on the web is very tough with millions of sites competing for visitors and sales. It will take some effort to get the traffic and sales that you need. But since it is a numbers game, it is MUCH easier to meet 100 or 1000 people on the internet than in your local community.

4) Use Different Techniques

One of the basic rules of Internet Marketing is NEVER EVER rely on a single technique to get search engine optimization. You may be #1 using that technique today, but there are many things that can occur. Such as, constant changes in search engine algorithms or you may get banned from a forum or violate a policy when posting with a classified ad service, to name a few. These events could result in losing 80% or more of your traffic.

5) Track and Measure your Results

You can only optimize your internet activities if you know what is working. You will want to focus on the activities that are bringing traffic to your site. Analyze your web logs or web statistics on a regular basis to get a clear idea of the most effective internet marketing strategies. Your findings can also help you look at how you can improve the results of each campaign that you do.

This is especially true when trying to determine which ad copy is working best.

6) LEARN…. LEARN….. LEARN

Continue to learn what is the best way to Internet Market. The Internet is always evolving. What may have worked 3 years ago may not work today. The Internet changes rapidly…if you want to be successful, you need to continue to grow and learn.
